This study is devoted to investigation of the conditions for stability of global synchronous mode in 1D, 2D and 3D lattices of chaotic maps. The lattices with only local connections are found to have a limit value of the Lyapunov exponent of the maps, making up the lattice, above which value the synchronous mode becomes unstable. This synchronous mode was found to be impossible in large lattices due to local character, i.e., due to small action range of the connections.
